Southern India has gifted us with an extraordinary recipe named sambhar which is seen as a humble and healthy food. Sonet sambhar masala offers the best taste to the dish filled with various vegetables, dals and spices and condiments that fulfills many nutrients of the body.
In half litre of water, pressure cook 2 cups of red gram split (tuvar dal). Add 3 tbsp of oil in a vessel and add mustard seeds, curry leaves and asafoetida, stir and fry, now add chopped onions, green chili and cook for 2 minutes. Add 2 chopped tomatoes and cook till it becomes a paste. Add 2 cups of water, 2 tbsp tamarind paste, salt to taste and add 2 tbsp Sonet Sambhar Masala. Blend the cooked-dal with blender, add to the bowl and boil for 5 to 10 minutes with chopped coriander, serve hot with idlis or dosas.
